Integrated marketing requires creatives that can shape ideas that work effectively across several different mediums. That’s why I’ve spent my career developing a wide spectrum of skills that help me ensure that campaigns work in concert across numerous channels. My versatility and experience allow me to contribute to any creative team, especially in senior and leadership roles.

I am relocating to Seattle in early 2022 with my wife, Calypso, and our pug, Eugene. Outside of work, we enjoy travel, watching sports, and good craft beer.

Digital creative that shines bright

Perpetually jockeying for position in the competitive premium cable market, working at Starz was all about developing arresting design to showcase the personality of our programming, forging deep connections with our fans.

Collaborating with talented professionals from every marketing and creative discipline, our interactive design team was often the point of the spear in reaching both industry insiders and the general public.

An interactive family tree to help keep track of royal relationships in a sprawling period drama; amping up the gore and obscenities in the press kit for a beloved comedy-horror franchise; producing eye catching digital advertisements. No matter how varied our output was, every project required a keen understanding of how our properties could inspire an audience to tune in every week.

Anguilla Football Association

Never too small to make a big splash

With its remote Caribbean location and a population of only 15,000, there are plenty of challenges to overcome for the Anguilla National Football Team. Their branding doesn't need to be one of them.

Despite being near the bottom of the FIFA World Rankings, there is room for optimism for soccer fans on this beautiful island. The Anguilla Football Association has new leadership, a burgeoning women's program, and is investing in youth participation. With these positive changes, the time was right for a new brand identity to signal their ambitions.

Working closely with the association's leadership, I developed a more modern, dynamic association logo and national team badge, prominately featuring the national symbol of three orange dolphins. Aquatic motifs reference the island's trademark surrounding waters. A suite of secondary marks round out the package, providing flexibility for years to come.

Additionally, I designed an entire apparel range, including onfield uniforms, sideline attire, and training gear. Working with their kit supplier, Stimulus, we helped the organization stand up its first merchandising program. Utilizing Afro-Caribbean patterns and vibrant colors, the team uniforms have garnered international acclaim during their World Cup qualifying campaign for their distinctive, uniquely Anguillan flair.

Viasat

Bringing satellite communications down to earth

Viasat is among the highest of tech companies — quite literally with satellites orbiting 20,000 miles above the earth. But with that comes the challenge of distilling complexity down to where it counts the most: making customers' lives better, many of whom are in underserved areas and are skeptical of big tech brands.

Working primarily with the company's home and business internet verticals, I was responsible for applying the Viasat brand effectively in consumer-facing and retail spaces, all while adhering to the overriding corporate branding that also served government, aviation, and other commercial segments.

Whether we were reskinning legacy websites, creating successful direct mail campaigns, or building out communications to keep customers informed, my team leveraged lifestyle photography and a signature corporate illustration style to make our work instantly recognizable and accessible.

Soccer Supporters Groups

Making the game just a bit more beautiful

Never lucrative but always fun, some of my favorite design projects are for local soccer supporters groups. Dotted all over the country, these groups offer a sense of community for fans of various teams. Hosting match viewings, organizing trips abroad, and interfacing directly with their respective clubs and national teams, these supporters groups form networks that connect fans all over the globe.

Combining team-specific iconography with local references, members rally around these logos. Worn with pride on scarves, shirts, and other merchandise, it's always a thrill to see my work enjoyed that deeply.

Even when it's for fans of rival clubs, I always enjoy working with these organizations and delving into the history of my favorite sport to help create these identities.

Grand Giraffe

Creating a retail discount site that stands out from the crowd

Leveraging its incredible consumer data along with inroads to some of the nation's largest retailers, Wiland sought to create a digital marketing solution that would drive meaningful traffic and conversions for our clients. Born from that idea, a small team assembled to form Grand Giraffe, a retail discount site unlike any on the market.

In a space dominated by sites with bargain-basement identities and headache-inducing searches for codes that actually work, Grand Giraffe was positioned as a more high-end alternative. Backed by the retailers themselves, the idea was that our site would be a reliable destination for shoppers looking for savings on quality brands. A subtle, more sophisticated visual brand was created to differentiate the site from its competitors.

I oversaw every single component of visual design and front-end development on the project, including the development of the brand look and a suite of advertising assets. While the site never made its way out of beta for wider business reasons, feedback from our partner brands on the website and identity design was extremely positive.

My first love in graphic design, the act of designing logos remains one of the sterner tests of a designer's craft. Being able to capture a brand's essence in a functional, flexible mark is always a challenge, but it's so rewarding when you get it right. Seeing my work serve as the cornerstone of an organization's visual identity for years is always a highlight.

Building upon the company’s best-in-class audience data and market analytics, I have been tasked with providing the technical and creative expertise necessary to establish a partner marketing department to better serve our large client base, which includes Fortune 500 corporations and some of America's most recognized nonprofits. Our team develops multi-channel campaigns and stands up original web properties from scratch, blending high-quality creative execution with innovative marketing strategies to create solutions that help our customers tackle some of their toughest marketing problems.

Brought in to provide experience and leadership to a developing internal agency, I had the opportunity to manage a team of designers through a time of growth and transition during a total rebrand. While primarily designing and art directing marketing assets for the company’s consumer internet offerings, I was also able to contribute to integrated campaign concepts for a variety of other business areas, as well as ensuring brand consistency with outside agencies and partners in both domestic and international markets.

Managing a team of hybrid designers/developers, my group supported an in-house creative agency with microsites, digital advertising, and social assets. Promoting original series and themed programming for the suite of Starz and Encore channels, our team’s output was experienced by industry influencers and millions of fans alike. By collaborating with talented print designers, video producers, and marketing managers, I was able to help shape impactful, highly-integrated (and often award-winning) campaigns.

While hired to bolster the digital design competencies of the company's internal creative team, my responsibilities weren’t limited to just interactive design. In addition to UX/UI design for websites and apps, creating digital advertising assets for special cinema events, and designing internal-facing corporate resources, I was also tasked with driving the original design of key art and branding for multiple live theater events. In designing assets in partnership with some of the largest entertainment brands (including Disney, 20th Century Fox, and HBO), I had to be able to work seamlessly with stringent guidelines and gain creative approval from extremely protective rightsholders.
